Disney launches new venture to develop residential communities

As more and more fans look for new ways to make Disney a bigger part of their lives, The Walt Disney Company today announced plans to introduce Storyliving by Disney, vibrant new neighborhoods that are imbued with the company’s own brand of magic. These planned communities are meant to inspire residents to make new friendships, pursue their interests, and write the next exciting chapter of their lives, all while enjoying the attention to detail, unique amenities, and special touches that are Disney’s trademark.

The first one Storyliving by Disney The community will be built in Rancho Mirage in California’s Coachella Valley, a place where Walt Disney himself owned a home and spent free time with his family. Other locations in the United States are being explored for future development.

“For nearly 100 years, Disney has been sharing stories that have touched the hearts and minds of people around the world,” said Josh D’Amaro, president of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “As we prepare to enter our second century, we are developing exciting new ways to bring the magic of Disney to people wherever they are, bringing storytelling to life. We look forward to welcome residents to these beautiful and unique Disney communities where they can live their lives to the fullest.

At each location, including select neighborhoods for residents ages 55 and older, Disney cast members trained in the company’s legendary customer service will lead the community association. Through a club membership, Disney will also provide access to curated experiences, such as wellness programs, entertainment ranging from live shows to cooking classes, philanthropic efforts, seminars and more.

Disney Imagineers will play a key role in developing the creative concept for communities, working with respected developers and home builders.

“The Disney Imagineers explore the richness of each local region to inspire the theme of Storyliving by Disney communities,” said Michael Hundgen, Executive Producer, Walt Disney Imagineering. “Distinctively designed indoor and outdoor spaces will provide residents with new opportunities to explore, engage and create the next incredible chapter in their story.”
