PHNOM PENH, Cambodia, March 9, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The Cambodian Finance and Technology Association (CAFT) held its second Annual General Meeting and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (MPTC) last Friday, March 4, 2022 at the SOSORO Museum – Preah Srey ICANAVRMAN.

The MoU was signed by HE So Visothy, Secretary of State MPTC and Mr. Remi PellChairman of CAFT’s Board of Directors and in the presence of HE Dr. Chea Vandeth Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, HE SOK Puthyvuth, Secretary of State MPTC, HE Dr. Chea Serey and the director of the board of directors of CAFT, the secretary general, Mr. Tomas PokornyCAFT Board Treasurer Frandara Khuon and CAFT Board Member Sanjay Chakrabarty.

The MoU aims to further CAFT’s collaborative vision by bringing together and uniting the diverse parts of the public and private Cambodian finance and technology community, advocating for a unified voice of the finance and technology ecosystem. In his welcome speech, Mr. Remi Pell The president of CAFT mentioned that the association is ready to meet the challenges of the Cambodian industry. “CAFT has designed strategic objectives to guide us on how we meet the challenges we face as an industry – 1) the need to expand the technology talent pool and create upskilling opportunities, 2) create training to develop innovation skills for implementation and use, 3) increase digitalization and adoption of SMEs , 4) financial literacy and financial inclusion. HE Dr. Chea SereyDeputy Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the National Bank of Cambodia on his collaborative remark, said: “Fintech is meant to provide convenient and affordable access to finance that could improve financial inclusion and deliver socio-economic benefits to SMEs and individuals who lack access to financial services. The MoU between CAFT and the MPTC has been an important step in creating synergy between the private and public sectors to promote a diverse digital economy Cambodia.

Meanwhile, HE Dr. Chea Vandeth, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications highlighted the importance of the MoU during his collaborative address. These partnerships are vital to the future of CAFT and its commitment to its members and the public.
