In many cases, states like Wisconsin have set up immigration partnerships with local authorities, which can help residents with a visa or a green card.
The new legislation also allows a citizen to obtain a green cards from the federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
The legislation, sponsored by state Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, D-Kenosha, allows the citizen to have a greencard, a U.D.

S status if they have family members who are U.C.I.L. or U.N.
The bill also allows for a citizen who has been arrested to obtain legal status for up to three years if they are detained without cause.
The legislation also provides a three-year period of eligibility for those living in a foreign country, which has been criticized by some as a quota for immigrants living in the United States.
