The Seattle Seahawks announced today that they’ve signed free agent punter Joe Kruger.
Kruger spent the last three seasons with the Denver Broncos and is one of the most versatile kickers in the league.
He’ll provide competition for Kyle Brindza who is currently the Seahawks leading kicker.
The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Kruger is a versatile player with the ability to hit from all directions.
He was a five-time Pro Bowler, a two-time All-Pro selection, and a four-time Super Bowl Champion with the New England Patriots.
He averaged 49.5 yards per kick during his career.
He also was a three-time AFC Defensive Player of the Year.
Krugers special teams career was a bit of a surprise as he made just six kicks of 50 yards or more.
He has the speed to score on most plays, but also needs to get his feet under him.
His punting range will be an asset to the Seahawks, who desperately need a punt returner.
Krugg will make $2.5 million in base salary and $1.75 million in incentives in 2017.
He is eligible for free agency after the season.
