The Dallas Cowboys are in a position to avoid another playoff game.
The team has a bye this week, the Miami Dolphins are at home and New Orleans Saints are in New England, the two teams in a three-way tie for third place in the NFC East.
The Saints are the only team not to play in Week 14.
That’s an unusual situation for a team that has only lost six times all season.
The other teams in the playoff hunt have played in the first three weeks of the season.
The Dallas Texans have played eight of nine, the Pittsburgh Steelers have played nine of 11 and the Minnesota Vikings have played 10 of 11.
The teams that are still in the hunt are the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Falcons and Lions are playing at home, while the Vikings are at St. Louis and the Panthers are at Cincinnati.
The Panthers play the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, while Carolina plays the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday.
The Texans have a bye in Week 15, which is also an unusual arrangement.
Houston has played in only two of the past nine weeks, which ties for the most consecutive weeks without playing.
The Patriots have only played in four of the first six weeks of a season, but they’ve won four of those games.
They are the most prolific scoring team in the NFL, scoring at least 25 points in six straight games.
The rest of the playoff race is a little different.
The San Francisco 49ers, the defending Super Bowl champions, are the highest-scoring team in Week 16.
The Seattle Seahawks are in second place, but the Rams are in third.
The Houston Texans, the NFC South champs, are fourth, with the St. Losers in fifth.
The Atlanta Falcons are the lowest-scoring in the league, with only the New York Giants scoring more than 17 points per game.
The Green Bay Packers, the second-best scoring team, are in last place.
The Philadelphia Eagles, the AFC West champs and the NFC North champs are tied for the worst scoring offense in the division.
The Houston Texans are tied with the Dallas Cowboys for the second worst scoring defense.
The Seattle Seahawks and the Green Bay 49ers are tied at the top of the NFL.
The top three teams in scoring and defense are all the same.
The Patriots have the highest scoring offense, with 24.5 points per play.
The New England Patriots have a 20.5 scoring offense and 19.4 scoring defense, while Dallas has a 21.9 scoring offense plus 16.8 defense.
The bottom three teams on offense and defense also rank in the bottom five.
The Miami Dolphins have a 14-2 record, but have only scored 11 points per contest.
The San Francisco Giants have an 11-5 record, with a 7.5 point per game average.
The New York Jets are in seventh place, and are second in the AFC East, tied with New England.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are in eighth place, tied in eighth with New York.
The Tennessee Titans are in ninth place, the Denver Broncos are in 10th and the Pittsburgh Panthers are in 12th.
The Arizona Cardinals are in 13th place, at 16-13, the Carolina Panthers are ninth at 18-16 and the Tampa Chargers are in 15th.
