BJP leader Nitin Gadkari has confirmed that Narendra Modi will be inaugurating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday.
The prime minister will be the first Indian to serve as PM.
“He is inaugurated as Prime Minister on Saturday and he will be sworn in at 2:30 pm (22:30 GMT),” Gadkar tweeted.
The BJP has been campaigning for the upcoming polls in the states of Assam and Haryana and has been seeking an alliance with the Congress party.
The BJP’s victory in Assam has been attributed to the party’s efforts to win the trust of voters and the alliance with Congress was a crucial factor in the victory in Haryanvi.
The Congress-led alliance in Assams election has seen the Congress lose its majority in the state assembly in the 2017 assembly elections.
The elections have been marred by violence, arson and arson attacks, which claimed more than 1,500 lives and injured more than 3,000 people in the two states.
