The biggest stars in Indian cricket have always been able to find a way to get by, and this year has seen a number of players take to the field in a more professional way.
They have gone from being in their teens to playing for major honours, and their performances are no longer confined to one sport.
One such player is India’s all-time top-scorer, Ajinkya Rahane.
He is currently in the midst of his fourth-straight World Cup, and he is still one of the best players in the world.
His batting has also been stellar, with Rahane batting at the top of the table at every event he has played at.
But he is not alone.
In the last four years, there have been players like Virat Kohli, Mohammad Azharuddin, Ravichandran Ashwin, Sunil Gavaskar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, and many more who have taken to the pitch in a way that has earned them the title of the world’s best cricketer.
It is an honour that has only been shared by some of them.
In fact, only a handful of the top-class cricketers in the country have been able have a career that has lasted more than two decades.
It was only when India’s most popular cricketeer, MS Dhoni, reached his peak in the early 2000s that the country’s best started to realise the greatness that is Dhoni.
But for the past two decades, a small but growing number of cricketers have taken the game to the next level.
It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication, but the end result is that the most popular Indian cricketts are becoming some of the finest batsmen in the game.
Rahane was a child when he was selected to represent India in the World Cup in 1998.
His mother had a job, and when he went to school in the middle of the night, he found himself playing for his school cricket team.
His first game was against an old friend of his, Sanjay Manjrekar, who was already retired.
“He was an extremely talented bowler,” says Ajay Sharma, the current head coach of India’s academy.
“I remember being quite nervous that we would lose to a team like that.
But Manjresar was an incredible player.
He scored two hundreds and had a phenomenal batting record.”
The next day, the team was playing a match against a school in Delhi when Manjreyar scored a century.
“I remember thinking, ‘I can do this.’
He was so young, and I had a lot more confidence,” says Manjrasekar.
“So I said to myself, ‘Manjrear, you are going to do this.
You are going be one of us’.
Rahana’s mother, Madhav, had been working in a bank when she heard about the tournament.
That was the first time I realised what I was missing,” she says. “
When I was working at a bank, my son would always ask me to go to the matches.
That was the first time I realised what I was missing,” she says.
“In school, he used to come and play for us.
He was very good at the game, but at home, I had to take care of him.
He used to sit with me in my room.
So I was very happy when Manojrear was selected.” “
In my mind, I thought, ‘It’s going to be a long time before I get to play for India’.
So I was very happy when Manojrear was selected.”
Manjreyer went on to score 2,000 runs for the Delhi team, and was also a crucial part of India winning the World Twenty20 in 2009.
He then moved on to become India’s captain in 2011, and eventually became the country captain last year.
This year, India’s players have been playing for the first-ever World T20.
The players have to make their mark on the tournament as they have been asked to do in a bid to secure a place in the semi-finals and final.
In 2019, there were six players from India in a group that had to win three matches to qualify.
The last two games against Australia and New Zealand were decided by four runs.
Dhoni was among the players to make his mark in the tournament, and has made an impact on Indian cricket.
In fact, he is one of only three players to score two centuries in the first innings of a World T10 match, as India beat Australia 3-0 in the quarter-finals.
Ajay Sharma says the biggest challenge of the tournament is getting the
