How to tell if you’ve got a burgler in your backyard?
That’s the question Virginia Tech is asking.
On Friday, police were dispatched to a home in the 3000 block of W. Park St. in Alexandria, where they found a person with an unknown suspect.
The homeowner called 911 and told police that a burglary had occurred.
Police quickly identified themselves and the suspect, who was described as a black man with a mustache and a black wig.
Police say the homeowner told them that a black male burglar had been hiding in his backyard and that they should go to his house to get him.
Police said that the suspect then led them to his bedroom, where he made off with a laptop computer, a pair of socks, a purse and a cell phone.
The homeowner’s neighbor told police he was able to find the suspect’s body in the backyard.
The neighbor was able a few hours later to identify the suspect as the burglar, who had fled the scene.
Police recovered a handgun, a small amount of marijuana and a baggie of cash.
